1b is always asking you to summarise part of what you have read and explain what you can work out and will look something like this:
What do you understand about ...?
Remember to:
- Show your understanding by explaining in your own words
- support your ideas with the text.
It's worth 4 marks and for full marks, you need to write clearpoints, linked to the question, support the point with a quote and then clearly explain what the quote suggests.
